Getting the most out of your facial

A facial is basically a multi-step skin treatment that will help you to take care of your skin. A facial cleanses, exfoliates, and nourishes your skin, giving it a clear, well-hydrated complexion which will help your skin look healthier. How often you should have a facial varies from person to person. Ideally, having a facial every month gives sufficient time for your skin to regenerate. Try to have a facial at least four times a year, as the season changes. You should also receive advice from our qualified and experienced beauticians on the best way to take care of your skin.

Here are some tips to get the best out of a facial. • Start with a consultation. Complete our form so the beautician has information on your skin, allergies and medical condition etc. As well as your beautician asking you about your skin tell her what products you use and why. The beautician can advise on what products use to get best results for your skin. • Preparing to clean. Firstly, the beautician will ensure your hair is away from the products and clean your face. She will analyse your basic skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive or normal) and skin conditions (acne, blackheads, whiteheads, aging, sun-damage, dehydration, etc.). From this she will consult with you on the most appropriate products and treatments to use. • Steam. Many facials involve steaming to soften your face.

At Ashnaa Hair and Beauty we have a range of facial products for a variety of skin conditions and treatments. Discuss your preferences with one of our beauticians who will consult with you on the most appropriate ones to take.

• Exfoliation. This involves rubbing away the surface dead skin cells. Alternatively, you may use a facial mask, depending on your skin type and condition. • Extractions. Your treatment may involve removing blackheads. This is done only through careful consideration of the skin condition. • Facial massage. This will help to relax you and stimulate your skin and facial muscles. • Final application. Your face may be applied with a toner, serum, or moisturiser. • After skin care. There may be certain products the beautician can recommend for you to use at home to take care of your skin between facials. Without caring for your skin at home you cannot get best results in the longer term.
